A Clinical Psychologist licensed in the State of New York, Dr. Lobl has maintained a successful private practice in midtown Manhattan since 2005.
Dr. Lobl’s first career was as an attorney and his psychotherapy clients have always included attorneys. The findings of the American Bar Association’s National Task Force on Lawyer Well Being (August 2017) convinced him to develop Lobl Law Health so that he might bring his training and experience in the law and in mental health to the task of promoting lawyer and staff wellbeing at law firms.

After completing his doctoral studies in the Clinical Psychology Program at Teachers College – Columbia University, Dr. Lobl interned at Mount Sinai Hospital West in 2006. Following internship, Dr. Lobl trained as a Psychology Fellow at Mount Sinai’s Addiction Institute in 2007 and then continued work at the hospital for 6 years as Supervising Psychologist at the Center for Intensive Treatment of Personality Disorders (CITPD).
Dr. Lobl then worked for 6 years as faculty at a Family Medicine residency program affiliated with Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. In this role, Dr. Lobl helped design and develop the residency’s psychosocial curriculum – the component of medical training that teaches communication and mindfulness skills and that promotes resident self-care and wellbeing.
Prior to entering the field of mental health, Dr. Lobl earned his J.D. in 1993 from Duke University School of Law, and then worked for 5 years as an Associate at big law firms. His jobs at firms included work as a Junior Attorney in the Hanoi offices of Clifford Chance; as a Corporate Associate in the Dallas offices of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld; and as a Corporate Associate in the Washington DC office of Shaw Pittman (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman).
